On International Women’s Day we are reminded of the fundamental role surgical care plays in women’s health equity.

  • Surgical care is essential in maternal health. Safe, timely, and appropriate cesaerian section could help prevent 100,000 maternal deaths - every year.

  • Surgical care is essential in breast cancer care. It offers the best chance for cure for the world’s most common cancer.

  • Surgical care is essential in cervical cancer care. It addresses the critical gap in treatment for this disease which kills one women every two minutes.

Our Women’s Health programme exists to close this gap in treatment for women.

Read our guides and visit our Women’s Health page to learn how we are changing the status quo for and with women.
