Awarded PhD by University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in 2011. Awarded MSc (Med), Health Law and Bioethics by the University of the Witwatersrand in 2015.

Awarded Hugh van Hasselt medal for anaesthetic services 2001. Awarded Philip Tobias and Convocation Distinguished Teacher award at Wits in 2009. Past National President South African Society of Anaesthesiologists, past President of the College of Anaesthetists of South Africa; Trustee and Senator of the board of Trustees of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA). Awarded Honorary Life Membership of the South African Society of Anaesthesiologists, 2006, and the CMSA in 2018. Committee member (SQPC) World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) from 2004 to 2016. On the organising Committee of World Congress of Anaesthesiologists (WCA) 2008 in Cape Town, and on the scientific committee for the WCA in Prague, September 2021.

She is a WFSA Council member and Chairman of the WFSA Publications committee; this has been since 2020 until the present time. She is currently on the organizing committee for the All Africa Anaesthesia Congress, to be held in Johannesburg, in September 2024.

Professor Lundgren has been an examiner and examinations convenor for the College of Anaesthetists of South Africa at DA and FCA2 level since 1991, an external examiner for several other Universities (M Med) since 1997, and supervisor and examiner for numerous higher degrees, all completed and awarded, including a PhD. She is also currently on the curriculum revision committee for the College of Anaesthetists.

She was Editor in Chief for 13 years of the SAJAA, and is currently co-editor in Chief of Update in Anaesthesia for the WFSA, and on the SAJAA Editorial Board.

She was the national anaesthetic representative on the National Committee for the Confidential Enquiry into Maternal Deaths (NCCEMD).

Core Responsibiities: Head of Clinical Governance and Clinical Risk Management at the Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre, and Honorary Professor in the Steve Biko Centre for Bioethics at the University of the Witwatersrand. The latter involves teaching and moderation of exams.

She is still involved in registrar teaching in Anaesthesia at Wits University.
