Sustainable Development Goals
GSF programming is linked closely with the UN 2030 Agenda objectives.
Our goals are designed to help achieve many of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), in particular SDG3 “Good Health and Well-being”. Many of the targets outlined in SDG3 will only be achieved if there is a significant increase in access to safe and affordable surgical, obstetrical and anesthesia care.
Enabling communities to better access safe and affordable surgical care services also has a significant impact on achieving several other SDGs.
Investment into the activities of the GSF will assist front-line stakeholders increase access to emergency and essential surgical care, thereby building stronger health systems that will ensure that communities can live healthy lives.
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages
Investment into the activities of the GSF will focus on building systems in which women and girls can thrive, and in particular be protected from the results of lack of access to essential surgical and obstetrical care.
Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
Investment into the activities of the GSF will be directed towards building an inclusive, multi-stakeholder collaborative model that will foster an environment of justice in regards to access to surgical care and strengthen the institutions working on the frontline.
Peace, justice and strong institutions
Investment into the activities of the GSF will help lessen the financial burden on individuals, communities and countries that is a result of inadequate access to surgical care services. The vicious cycle of poverty that results from absent or poor surgical care can be broken.
End poverty in all its forms everywhere
